To God be the glory

On The Road To Seventy

I'm a tired and weary soldier

On the road to seventy
And if I die before I make it

Don't you cry for me

I'll be on my way to paradise

When Jesus comes for me

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

If by chance I reach the age

Of threescore years and ten

I'll be on the road to eighty

Where you are now my friend

I hope my mind will be as sharp

As your mind seems to be

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

I would not want to live my life

On other people's time

Who have to do what I can't do

Because I lost my mind

And I would not want to be a burden

On my family

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

I'm on the road to seventy

And if I make it through

I hope that I'm as healthy

And half as smart as you

I pray that my abilities

Don't leave me on that day

For I would not want to lose the words

To all the songs I play

I'm on the road to seventy

And I know that you'll agree

That sometimes it's not easy

Cause you've been there before me

And just like you I'm wanting to

Grow older graciously

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

I would not want to live my life

On other people's time

Who have to do what I can't do

Because I lost my mind

And I would not want to be a burden

On my family

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

When my life is over

And my trials come to an end

I hope that you will think of me

If you're still here by then

As someone who appreciated your abilities

Even though you disagreed

With my philosophy

I'm a tired and weary soldier

On the road to seventy
And if I die before I make it

Don't you cry for me

I'll be on my way to paradise

When Jesus comes for me

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

I'll be on my way to paradise

When Jesus comes for me

As I travel down this rocky road

That leads to seventy

I'm travelling down this rocky road

That leads to seventy
