Father Abraham

Abraham the father of us all

Obeyed the will of God when he heard YAHOVAH call
Leave this place and go where I send you

And do the things that I want you to do
And I will bless you, if you are faithful

For I have sworn by myself said the LORD

And I am thy shield and exceeding great reward
I will make a great nation out of thee
And establish My covenant between both you and Me
And I’ll protect you, if you are faithful

What was it like father Abraham

To leave your native home for another foreign land
How did you know to trust God and obey

For you did not hesitate to follow Him that day
And God was with you, our God was with you

But Sara’s womb was barren and she failed to conceive

But God had promised Abraham she’d bear a son indeed
And He would make a covenant with Isaac and his seed

And God was faithful, our God is faithful

And when it came to pass what God had said and done

God instructed Abraham to offer up his son
In a place that He would chose for this solemn sacrifice

And Abraham was willing to trust God with his life
For He was faithful, Abraham was faithful

What was it like father Abraham

To be willing to obey the LORD and do what He commands
How did you know to trust God and obey

For you did not hesitate to follow Him that day
And God was with you, our God was with you

It pleased the LORD to try him and to put him to the test

To see if he would disobey and fail like all the rest
But Abraham was faithful and was willing to comply

Knowing it would break his heart if Isaac had to die
But he was faithful, Abraham was faithful

But Yahovah was not willing to suffer Abraham

For He knew that He would one day have to sacrifice His Lamb
To make atonement for the sins of all humanity

The Lamb of God would shed His blood to set His people free
And He was faithful, our God is faithful

What was it like father Abraham

To be willing to obey the LORD and do what He commands
How did you know to trust God and obey

For you did not hesitate to follow Him that day
And God was with you, our God was with you
