Nowhere To Run
He was the son of a collier
Diggin' deep underground in Westray
By the sweat of his brow like his father
He laboured hard for his pay
He worked along side his neighbour
In the darkness and dust of the mine
Where young men grow old
With their lungs full of coal
And die before their time
They want to run but the river's
Getting deep
There's been too many lies
Too many secrets to keep
And there's nowhere to run
He spends his time making paper
From the trees on the coast of B.C.
Where ancient timbers grew tall
Until they cut them all
In the name of sustained industry
I've seen the waste and destruction
From the mills on the outskirts of town
Where the rivers and streams
No longer run clean
From the poison that seeps
Through the ground
They want to run but the river's
Getting deep
There's been too many lies
Too many secrets to keep
And there's nowhere to run
He fished for cod with his father
On the banks of the Labrador sea
With his wife and his sons and his daughters
They lived a life that was free
Until one day their freedom was over
And whoever thought it would end
With no fish and no hope for the future
And no time to start over again
The winds of change are comin' around again
There's been too many heartaches
Too many tears and pain
And there's nowhere to run
God gave us gifts in our children
In the land and the sea and the air
But we use and abuse and destroy them
With no worry, no guild and no fear
But someday the guilty will answer
For this misery, destruction and strife
In this world where our sins spread like cancer
And our children have no right to life
The winds of change are comin' around again
And there's nowhere to run
Why must there be so much anger
Why must there be so much greed
Why can't we see there's a danger
In taking more than we need
When will we finally start learning
That our future is linked to our past
If we don't understand what we're burning
then our hope for tomorrow won't last
The winds of change are comin' around again
And there's nowhere to run
Let his warning go out to the nations
To those who have ears, let them hear
Only Yeshua can lead to salvation
And the day of His judgment is here
So turn from your path of destruction
From the darkness come into the light
Be watchful and pray
For you won't know the day
When He will come like a thief in the night
And there's nowhere to run
There'll be nowhere to run
No there's nowhere to run
There'll be nowhere to run
