My Book Of Life
There was a time, when all the world was young
When my heart first began, to beat with life anew
And through the eyes of my father's only son
I could see his light of love come shining through
There was a time, when all the world stood still
But for me my restless heart kept pounding like a drum
And in my youth, I would ramble over hills
Through fields of flowers I would run, laughing in the sun
And I would not, I could not, change a single line
Written in my book of life, once upon a time
And if God will grant me one request, I pray that it will be
To let His light of love shine on in me
There was a time, when all the world was new
When I held my newborn child, gently to my breast
And in my babies' eyes I saw a love so true
That I could not contain my happiness
But there was a time, when all the world was dark
Blackened by the sin and hatred found within man's heart
And through the hours of darkness, love hung upon that tree
And He gave His life as a sacrifice for those like you and me
And I would not, I could not, change a single line
Written in His book of life, once upon a time
And if God will grant me one request, I pray that it will be
To let His light of love shine on in me
There will come a time, when all the world is free
Free from sorrow, free from pain, free from tyranny
And when I see Him face to face, I'll fall down on my knees
And I'll thank Him for His saving grace that saved a wretch like me
There will come a time, when all the world is one
Then my heart will once again, beat with life anew
And in the eyes of my Father's only Son
I will see His light of love come shining through
And I would not, I could not, change a single line
Written in His book of life, once upon a time
And if God will grant me one request, I pray that it will be
To let His light of love shine on in me
God, let Your light of love shine on in me
Let Your light of love shine on
Let Your light of love keep shining
Let Your light of love shine on
Let Your light of love keep shining
Let Your light of love shine on in me
