The Pilgrim
I was a prisoner in a foreign land
In the wilderness of sin
Before I knew my Savior who
Would set me free through Him
I was captured by the devil's lie
That told me I was free
From the curse of sin that dwells within
My iniquity
I was a prisoner and I did not know
The danger I was in
Until my conscience kept convicting me
Of my grievous sin
I became a fool for Satan
Who deceived me with his lies
Until Jesus came to rescue me
When He heard my fervent cry
I am drowning in my sorrow LORD
Forgive me now I pray
Deliver me from bondage LORD
And set me free today
I remember when He answered me
In my dark despair
He sent His Holy Spirit down
To wipe away my tears
The pain I felt inside that day
Because of guilt and shame
Was placed upon my Savior
When I called upon His name
I am a pilgrim in this foreign land
Who cannot walk away
From all that Jesus did for me
On Calvary that day
How can I deny my God
And what He did for me
When He wrote my sins upon His heart
And nailed them to that tree
Precious Savior lead me homeward LORD
To where I long to be
In the presence of Your glory
For all eternity
I am a pilgrim on a journey
To the kingdom of my God
Who saved me from the curse of sin
And washed me in His blood
The price He paid on Calvary
For sinners such as me
Reminds me of my Father's love
For all humanity
Weary pilgrims in this foreign land
In the wilderness of sin
Only Jesus and His Father can
Restore your lives again
So call upon the name of God
While He may be found
And cast your cares upon the LORD
And lay your burdens down
Cast your cares upon the LORD
And lay your burdens down
